Playa Roca is on the beach in the little fishing village of Las Penitas about 3 miles south of Poneloya and 15 miles west of Leon in northern Nicaragua.
Car
Take the highway out of town headed west. Follow the Poneloya and Playa Roca signs. As you are entering Poneloya take the left forked turn onto the paved frontage road. Continue for about a 3 mile/5 km paved frontage road to get to Las Penitas/Playa Roca. Driving time is about 20 minutes.
Taxi
Leon 's taxi drivers know how to get to Playa Roca. The taxi fare is approximately $10 US for 1-4 people, or about $200 Cordobas. Driving time is about 20 minutes.
Bus
Buses leave Leon for Poneloya/Las Penitas approximately every hour beginning at 6:00 am . Buses stop right at the entrance to Playa Roca. The last bus leaves Playa Roca at 6:30 PM . The trip takes approximately 45 minutes and costs about $.50 US or $10 Cordobas.
