Directions to Playa Roca from Leon

Playa Roca is on the beach in the town of Las Penitas about 3 miles south of Poneloya and 15 miles west of Leon in northern Nicaragua.

By Car

Take the highway out of town headed west. Follow the Poneloya and PlayaRoca signs. As you are entering Poneloya take the left forked turn onto the paved frontage road. Continue for about a 3 mile/5 km paved frontage road to get to Las Penitas/Playa Roca. Driving time is about 20 minutes.

By Taxi

Leon 's taxi drivers know how to get to Playa Roca.  The taxi fare is approximately US$9.00 for 1-4 people, or about 160 Cordoba ' s.  Driving time is about 20 minutes.

By Bus

Buses leave Leon for Paneloya/Las Penitas every 30-45 minutes from 6:00 am . The bus passes and stops right at the entrance to Playa Roca. The last bus leaves Playa Roca back to Leon at 6:30 PM . It takes approximately 45 minutes with stops to travel the 22 Kilometers or approximately 15 miles.  The bus ticket is about US$.75 or 12 Cordobas.
